About This Programme
The Lean & Operational Excellence (OpEx) Yellow Belt is a highly practical, industry-recognised programme designed to build capability in process improvement, problem-solving and continuous improvement. Delivered online by ATU Sligo’s award-winning “anytime–anywhere” learning platform, this course is widely used by many of Ireland’s leading employers to upskill their workforce.
Learners benefit from weekly live, interactive online sessions, supported by full lecture recordings for flexible study and revision. All course materials, assessments and supports are provided online, making this programme accessible to professionals working in manufacturing, biopharma, medtech, healthcare, finance and service environments.
As part of the programme, participants receive free access to Minitab Workspace, an intuitive suite of visual tools, process maps, brainstorming templates and Lean forms used throughout the course.

Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate or equivalent recommended
Good English language, literacy, numeracy and computer skills
Access to a Windows computer (Minitab Workspace is not available for Mac)
ATU Sligo provides free access to its Mathematics Support Centre for learners who wish to refresh their maths skills.

Standard Fee: €325
BioPharmaChem Skillnet Subsidised Fee: €260 (20% funding)
Eligibility Criteria for Skillnet Funding:
- Skillnet Funding can only be applied where the employer pays the course fees on behalf of the student.
- Self-employed applicants can avail of the subsidy.
- BioPharmaChem Skillnet will issue the invoice directly to you or your organisation.
- Public-sector and companies outside of the Republic of Ireland are not eligible for the subsidy.
